Advocacy
We take a data-driven approach to our advocacy work across the state to transform the healthcare system to improve access for all residents. Through our advocacy work, the North Carolina General Assembly has approved funding through June 2025 for free and charitable clinics, supporting our mission to expand healthcare for the state’s uninsured individuals and families. We also educate funders on the unmet needs of the uninsured to create synergistic relationships and collaborations that broaden our reach.
Innovative Service Delivery
We are working to bring healthcare access to counties without free brick-and-mortar clinics through our innovative service delivery model, which includes telehealth. Our mobile healthcare clinics, in partnership with member clinics, also expand our reach. Our mobile dentistry initiative, piloted in several communities with plans for expansion, provides comprehensive dental healthcare that many patients aren’t currently receiving. We also know that access to behavioral health is especially elusive to patients of free clinics, so we also plan to pilot a bilingual telehealth model as a member resource. Our regionalization strategy allows us to leverage neighboring communities’ resources with one another to make quality healthcare more widely available.
Leadership Development
We offer free professional development to our member clinics on topics that improve the quality of the care they provide and the professionalism of their organization. We collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to create relevant training for their clinics, which aims to improve access, create successful outcomes, and develop higher standards for patient care. We strive to create resilient, creative leadership to helm our member clinics and within our board of directors.
